Dealing With Grief: Part 1 of 5

grief

Grief is something everyone will deal with in life. There’s no escaping it. Eventually a loved one will die. Eventually there will be shock or upheaval in the financial life or the career. When children are born we often have to sacrifice beloved things or activities. Age will eventually steal the health and good looks. Age will make us confront our personal mortality. These all produce a sense of loss – grief.

The question is how best to deal with this?

The current thinking in the secular psychological world is that one must go through it. Explore it. Experience it to the full. If the grief is too strong they will prescribe medication – which doesn’t cure the root problem – but only alleviates symptoms. Some espouse dwelling in the grief until it expends itself. This can often go on for years and years.
